Terms of use
Last updated: October 2, 2026
The agreement
Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula) applies to this app. These terms add to it.
What the app is
A journal for naming and noticing your emotions, with AI reflections. AI can be wrong. Use your own judgement.
It is not therapy, diagnosis or medical advice, and it is not an emergency service. In crisis in Canada, call or text 9-8-8. In danger now, call 9-1-1.
Premium
Premium is a subscription sold through Apple: yearly or monthly. The price shows before you buy, in your currency.
If a free trial is offered, you are charged when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before.
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time in iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
If Premium ends, your entries stay on your phone and stay readable and exportable. Only Premium features stop.
Discern top-ups and coaching
Everyone can have one Discern session a week. Free accounts can also have 3 sessions in total.
A top-up is a one-time purchase of 3 extra Discern sessions. It does not renew. Your top-ups are recorded by our purchase service, so Settings › Restore purchases brings them back after you reinstall the app or move to a new iPhone. Sessions you already used are not given back.
A 1-on-1 coaching session is arranged by email. The price and format are agreed with you before you pay anything. Coaching is not therapy.
Refunds
Apple handles all payments and refunds. Ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund App Store purchases ourselves.
Fair use
Don't try to break, overload or copy the AI service, or use it for anything unlawful. We may limit AI requests to keep the service running for everyone.
Your content
Your journal is yours. We claim no rights to it.
Limits
The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses from using it. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law where you live.
These terms follow the laws of Alberta, Canada.
