The short version
Your journal lives on your iPhone. We have no account system and no copy of your journal.
To make a reading, the words you send are passed to our AI server and our AI provider, then the reply comes back. We do not save or log those words.
No ads. No tracking. No analytics.
Who we are
Conscious Ground Journal is made by Marvin Colcol, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Contact: marvin.colcol@gmail.com.
What stays on your iPhone
Your check-ins, journal entries, cards, Read Further answers, Discern sessions and settings are stored in the app on your iPhone.
They are part of your iPhone's own backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) if you have those turned on. Those backups are yours; we cannot read them.
Face ID and your passcode are handled by iOS. The app only learns "unlocked" or "not unlocked".
Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. They never contain your journal words, and nothing is sent to us.
What leaves your iPhone, and why
AI readings: when you ask for a name, a card, Read Further or a Discern answer, the text for that request is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our server on Cloudflare, which passes it to our AI provider, DeepSeek, to write the reply. We do not store or log the words. DeepSeek processes them under its own terms and may process them outside Canada.
If your words suggest you may be in danger, our server does not send them to the AI. The app shows a crisis line instead.
Feedback (optional): when you tap thumbs up or down, we keep the rating, the reasons you tick, your short note, the AI reply and which version made it. Your own journal words are kept only if you turn on "Also share my words". We delete all feedback after 90 days. It is not linked to you.
Purchases: Apple handles payment. RevenueCat, our purchase service, receives a random ID made by the app (kept in your iPhone Keychain) and your purchase records, so the app knows you have Premium and which top-ups you bought. We never see your name, email or card.
Network: like any website, Cloudflare sees your IP address to deliver and rate-limit requests. We do not store it.
Your choices
Export: Settings › Export my journal saves everything as one text file.
Delete: Settings › Delete my journal erases every entry and Discern session on this phone. Deleting the app does the same.
Questions or a request about feedback we hold: email us. Because feedback is not linked to you, tell us the date and what you wrote in the note so we can find it.
Not for children
The app is not meant for children under 13.
Not therapy
The app is a journal with AI reflections. It is not therapy or medical advice. If you are in crisis in Canada, call or text 9-8-8. In danger now, call 9-1-1.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new date shows at the top and the app shows the new text.
